Midterm Letter

Dear Mrs. Kline,

This semester so far has certainly had its ups and downs for me. I believe that I have excelled in some areas while definitely struggling in others. The last few weeks have been particularly rough for me, especially with my time management and getting things turned in on time. I know that I will be using my “No Questions Asked” tab in the very near future.

My biggest challenge so far has been reading Frakenstein as well as managing my time for writing my essays. I feel that my success was actually finishing Frakenstein because in the beginning of the book I was really worried I wouldn’t be able to keep focused on it, and became surprisingly more interested in it as I read further and further. I am also happy with my second essay because I have a really hard time writing essays, especially concerning analysis.

I enjoyed some of the poetry reading for the class and the poem I wrote my essay on definitely arose some emotions from me, but I am not a poetry kind of person. Reading Frankenstein was a big accomplishment for me just because I’ve read very little literature and the language was a little out of my league. I did enjoy parts of the story, though, and it’s interesting to read about how Frankenstein came about in our society.

For me, literary analysis is different from any other types of writing I’ve done because I’ve only done mostly research paper writing, which is so completely different. It is definitely a knew challenge for me to do this type of writing.

My goals for the second half of the semester are to spend more time doing my writing and including revising in that process. I also hope to improve on my time management skills because sometimes I underestimate how long it takes me to write.

Thank you for an interesting and challenging semester so far.

Sincerely,
 Nate Hibberd
